Bolton Wanderers FC, Wandering Dots

By Matt Berry

Bolton have wandered the field of play in many colours over their long history. The first kit was red and black, then red and white quarters, followed by salmon pink shirts, and then white shirts with red spots in 1884. One local journalist likened the new strip to that seen in a circus. Incidentally, the nickname “The Spots” stuck for many years afterwards.
