Johan Cruyff, The Revolutionary

By Matt Berry

When we think of Cruyff, we remember that pivotal move in 1974, a sublime feint that was named after him. It is a move that is now widely replicated in the modern game. Cruyff’s influence on the game goes way beyond his wonderful footballing ability. His football philosophy, known as ‘Total Football’ turned the game on its head. It has become the foundation for success at club and international level, across Europe and beyond. His ground-breaking impact on contemporary football turned him not only into a footballing genius, but a coaching one too.
