Liverpool, Liver bird typography print, Football Prints and Posters

For over 800 years a bird has been the symbol of Liverpool. In 1207 King John was granted a Royal Charter to register Liverpool as a borough and used a mythical bird as his crest. In 1797 a Liver bird was incorporated into the city’s coat of arms. Since 1911 they have marked Liverpool’s skyline on top of the Royal Liver Building. They have been the legendary crest of the football club since 1901, but only appeared on the shirts from 1947.
