Manchester United FC, Newton Heath

By Matt Berry

In 1878 workers of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway formed a football club in Newton Heath. Little did they know they founded one of the most famous and richest clubs in the world today. Clad in yellow and green halves, the colours of their employer, they were known as the ‘The Railwaymen’.
