Oxford United FC, Oxen

By Matt Berry

Oxford United are know as the U’s. It’s not clear exactly why they use this name, but it could simply allude to the fact that they are called United. The Ox as a symbol appeared on a fourteenth-century seal. It expresses the name and hints at its origin. The town evolved with oxen around the ford.
